Hello Aqua Tutus,
Thanks to Oliver Edwards for helping me provide entertainment at January's Members Night. I was surprised and disappointed no other club members shared their photos and videos. Perhaps that's because quite a few club members were diving in Cozumel at the time.
For those who struggle with what to do after shooting underwater images, the February general meeting presentation on Thursday, Feb. 6 is especially for you! Arnie Warshawsky and Oliver Edwards will present a program focused (pun intended) on basic photo editing tools and workflow for still images. See General Membership Meeting - 2/5/2026 for more information.
Lindsay Martin is serving as point of contact for the club's February dive on Saturday, Feb. 7th. Location is to be determined. I'm guessing Lindsay is open to suggestions on where to dive at, so if there's a site that you're interested in, maybe it's worth a message or call to her.
On Saturday, Jan 11, I and several others attended the club's retreat at Oliver Edwards' home. We had a tasty potluck lunch and good sharing of our individual perceptions of what we're doing well in the club and things to improve on. For the things to improve, we identified possible changes to the club's constitution, bylaws, rules, and policies; three workgroups; and leaders for those groups.
The working groups and leaders are
* Marketing group, Derek Suring
* General meeting group, Jim Driggers
* Board of Directors, Dan Wilcox
To see my notes from the meeting, see Notes from January 11, 2026 club retreat.
I expect Derek and Dan will soon ask for volunteers to join them to make improvements in their areas of responsibility. As for me in the general meeting group, I've got some ideas on changes to make and will likely test some of those changes in the February meeting. My goal is to make the general meeting more interesting and fun! Any suggestions you have are welcome.
As always, hope to see everyone at the next general meeting and later club events.
Warmly,
Jim Driggers
Club president
